Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology is deeply committed to helping the community, both locally and globally.

Our Department is providing comprehensive Anaesthesia Care to various clinical departments which include General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Ophthalmology. We have also extended our services to Superspeciality Departments which include Neurosurgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Oro-maxillo-facial Surgery. Anaesthesia care is also provided to MRI and CT rooms and other ambulatory anaesthesia procedures. The Department also caters to the various ICUs which are well equipped with ventilators, multi-parameter patient monitors and renal replacement therapy.

To promote Research Methodology in the field of Anaesthesia.

Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy

Dermatology, the science of skin, is one of the many specialties that have evolved from general medicine, although its recognition as a distinct specialty is recent.

Dermatological diseases (including Venereology and Leprology) constitute approximately 30% of outpatient attendance in any hospital. The Department of Dermatology was established to provide comprehensive treatment for skin related problems at affordable costs. Equipped with state of the art medical equipment and managed by qualified and experienced skin-specialists, the Dermatology Department focuses on evidence-based medicine and quality care. The department also offers treatment for leprosy and venereal diseases.

It routinely carries out dermatologic and cosmetic procedures such as biopsies, skin grafting, cryotherapy, electrocautery, chemical peels and skin resurfacing procedures such as derma rolling. It is one of the pioneers of Immunofluorescence diagnostic technology and Phototherapy in various skin diseases.

The department undertakes the teaching of undergraduates (M.B.B.S.), postgraduates in medicine & paediatrics’ students. The department, apart from the treatment of skin diseases, leprosy and sexually transmitted diseases, undertakes the management of complex cosmetic problems like acne scars, keloids, naevi, hair fall and pigment disorders.

ENT

The Sido Kanhu Medical College and Hospital Department of Otolaryngology is dedicated to providing the best possible care of ear, nose, & throat conditions, education of medical students, training of otolaryngology residents, and otolaryngologic research.

Our physicians provide expert care for general ear, nose, and throat issues, as well as treatment for a wide variety of head and neck disorders. Many patients begin their care with a general ENT physician, who refers them to one of our specialists to address more specific conditions. Others remain in the care of a general ENT physician throughout their treatment process. We welcome all patients with ear, nose, throat, head, or neck concerns.

Through clinical experience, research, and didactic lectures we strive to increase knowledge of otolaryngic disorders and their treatments for students and residents at all levels of training. We are committed to training the next generation of leaders in the field, with training opportunities for medical students, residents and fellows graduate students.

General Surgery

The Department of General Surgery at Sido Kanhu Medical College and Hospital is one of the key departments among clinical specialities.

The Department of General Surgery encompasses expertise in several areas of general surgery concerned with the care of abdominal disorders involving emergency general surgery, advanced laparoscopy, bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, and esophageal and pancreatic procedures. The faculty and the members of the dept. yearn to provide improved teaching and learning process to inculcate a strong professional commitment, to update the skills and to interact with national and international academic institutions. General Medicine

Internal medicine or general medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases.

Physicians specializing in internal medicine are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi – system disease processes internists care for hospitalize and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching and research.

Orthopaedics

The Department of Orthopaedics is dedicated to relieving pain, improving function and restoring quality of life to the individuals who suffer from musculoskeletal injury or disease. The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery cares for all injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. We are dedicated to providing quality, compassionate care for patients and their families and have brought together a team of specialized physicians that applies the latest research and technologies in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Obstetrics & Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Sido Kanhu Medical Institute and Hospital is a multi-specialty department providing high quality patient care in the areas of antenatal care, postnatal welfare, infertility, oncology and urogynaecology.

The department brings together first-rate clinical services with an updated academic curriculum and advanced level of research. The vision is to establish a centre of excellence for the reproductive health needs of women, train the generation next and be involved in expanding research. The Department provides complete obstetrical care, comprehensive family welfare, infertility management, prenatal diagnosis, cancer treatment, endoscopic surgery, menopause management, pelvic floor medicine and reconstructive surgery.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is involved with teaching, patient care, and research in the areas of normal and abnormal human reproduction: growth and development of the fetus, normal and complicated obstetrics, and surgical and medical diseases of the female reproductive system, including reproductive endocrinology and infertility, oncology, urogynecology, global women’s health, genetics, infectious disease, psychosocial problems, preventive health care, and ethics. The department also provides primary and preventive health care for women.

Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology at Sido Kanhu Medical Institute and Hospital is committed to the pursuit of excellence in all its missions.

We believe that the success of our department depends on the quality of the clinical care we provide our patients, training outstanding future ophthalmologists and scientists, and developing new knowledge and innovative therapies for vision threatening diseases.

Upon completion course of instruction our residents are able to enter comprehensive ophthalmic practice or pursue fellowship training.

Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at Sido Kanhu Medical Institute and Hospital’sl strives to fulfill the tripartite mission of the Medical School: excellence in teaching, research and clinical service.

We promote our Mission to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning, and research at the highest international levels of excellence. Our particular focus is on the determinants of mental health conditions, their treatments and the promotion of mental health, teach psychiatry to medical students, develop future researchers in our graduate programme, teach doctors in training, promote excellence in clinical practice, and develop and provide innovative clinical services. We provide outstanding inpatient and outpatient clinical care as a base for teaching medical students and residents at the College as well as providing specialized programs for patients and their families.

We are teachers, researchers, and clinicians. We train future psychiatrists, explore new ideas, map genomes, develop innovative therapies, create new drugs, study spectacular brain images, and pioneer new treatments all with the goal of advancing mental health care to give our patients healthier minds and better lives.

Radio diagnosis

The Department of Radio diagnosis from its inception, continues to play an important and significant role in the over all health care and academic activities of the Institute.

The Department is well equipped with various Imaging Equipment such as conventional and multi slice Whole Body CT Scanners, Ultrasound equipments with color Doppler, X-Ray Machines like 500 MA X-Ray Unit with fluoroscopy, Three Portable X-Ray Units and a Mammography unit are available.The Department of Radiodiagosis also has PACS facility by which it provides digital films .

The department imparts radio-diagnostic and imaging expertise to its residents through its central and emergency radio-diagnostics lab equipped with various recent and hi-tech radio-diagnostic modalities. The broad goal of teaching the undergraduate medical students in the field of Radio-diagnosis should be aimed at making the students realise the basic need of various radio-diagnostic tools in medical practice. They should be aware of the techniques required to be undertaken in different situations for the diagnosis of various ailments as well as during prognostic estimations.

Tuberculosis-and-Chest-Diseases

The Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases is actively involved in teaching, training and research in the field of TB & Respiratory Diseases.

Tuberculosis is not only a worldwide health care issue but also an important health problem of our country. Equipping the students with knowledge and practice to handle tuberculosis benefits the society. Students are enlightened about the various programs undertaken by government to control tuberculosis.

For this our department has a pulmonary function testing unit and also regular camps are conducted to increase the awareness. Students are educated about the ill effects and complication of pollution such as occupational lung diseases and malignancies of the Lung.

The department provides inpatient care to tuberculosis, lung cancer and other non-TB respiratory diseases patients and free anti-retrovirus treatment to patients suffering from TB-HIV co-infection.
